Happy Independence Day.
If this is what you call “Independence”. I guess being independent (save for the occasional World Bank loan that we shan’t be paying back) doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re doing well…so there’s that.

Anime World - SahBabii: “I got swords on my back. Ninjas with me nigga, throwin' stars at these bitches. Eating ramen noodles in the hood with my ninjas...”. Need I say more? No fam, say less.
Flashing Lights - Kanye West: I fucking miss Kanye West. I’m so mad at him and as such I’ve been starving myself of his music since TLOP. It doesn’t make any sense, I know...I think.
Skateboarding - Xinobi: This is my favourite song on this playlist. I fell in love 5 seconds in, before noticing the name of the song. Skateboarding is my favourite “sport” on the planet and it’s 75% of why I have an Instagram account. There’s a monologue at 4:16 that might come off as #FakeDeep but it’s endearingly felicitous.
Slip Away (Mura Masa Remix) - Perfume Genius: I saw Perfume Genius live last year at Outsidelands and I lost my shit when Slip Away came on. This remix is worthy of the song.
Told You (Biao Remix) - Wilsen, Biao: Entirely coincidentally, this is an almost perfect transition from the last song.
Kick Jump Twist - Sylvan Esso: Sylvan Esso is my favourite band (tied with Linkin Park). I will not tolerate anything but giddy, mindless fun as a result of listening to this song.
Feral Thing - Josin: This song is so beautiful, it actually makes me want to fucking cry.

“How could it all fall in one day? Were we too sure of the sun?”. Believe it or not, “If you need to, keep time on me” was written by Fleet Foxes after Trump won the election. It’s about having a strong support system when there’s tragedy afoot. Peak post-depression music.
Alright let’s get this party started! I love when DJs say that then play a song that people haven’t danced to in months. Anyway this is Little Dragon with “Klapp Klapp”. I think that’s how you say Gonorrhea in German. Also I dare you to spell “Gonorrhea” correctly on your first try
Super grim lyrics over an upbeat Paul Simon (Graceland) inspired instrumental is how I want to go out. I’m serious guys. Play Harmony Hall by Vampire Weekend at my funeral.
When I’m down by Whethan and Oliver Tree AKA more upbeat music about being unhappy!
This song always leaves me in an odd trance like state. It sounds like when you’re on your way home after a night out and all the music you’ve heard just blend into one song in your drunk little head. Enjoy the Voyeur remix of “How can you swallow so much sleep” by Bombay Bicycle Club
This one kind of snuck up on me. For some reason, the line “Me, I no wan be your Part Time lover” really makes me really want to be someone’s part time lover. Odunsi, GMK and T’neeya have something special here.
If you need new music to make you feel like a movie character in a montage of clips where they’re training to kill the person who killed their dog when they were 11 years old, then look no further than “The Runner” by Foals.
You ain’t the problem starts off as a 70’s inspired afrobeat jam then turns into this uplifting Bill Withers like song about not giving up on finding love just because you’ve been in a few shitty situations. Michael Kiwanuka and I think It’s Important to put yourself out there.
Do we like this super pretty Kishi Bashi cover of “This must be the place” by the Talking heads? Yes we do. Do we like the name “Kishi Bashi”? Yes we do.
